Shooting Journal. Day 1.

What a great day.  It was a roller coaster ride, but we stepped up and got fantastic images in the can.  Which is no small feat.

First and foremost I need to thank my family for making this fantastic day possible. They’ve embraced the task we’ve set out for ourselves and we literally could not do this without them.

Second I want to thank the crew for rolling with the punches even though we were light in a few areas today.  We will get tighter as we grow together.  The crew delivered under less than ideal circumstances; through passing rain and a very tight schedule, especially for Day 1.

There’s nothing like the feeling of being on set making a movie.  It’s the best part of making a movie. It’s such a shame that it’s usually the shortest, given the time needed in pre and post production respectively.

To make best use of the fact we needed to check out equipment on Saturday, we shot today and will have a day off tomorrow.  Not usual for the beginning of a film, but I’m quite happy we’ve rolled the schedule out like this.  We learned a lot today and we know where we need to fill some holes.  So, instead of another early day of shooting tomorrow, we can actually go out and get the supplies we need.

Love this image of Henry (McCaleb Burnett) shaving after an impromptu swim.
